We at American Boston Terrier Rescue have no ongoing sponsers, subsidies, grants or other steady supporter paying for the vetting care of the rescue dogs. All vet bills, dog food and anything else the dogs need are paid for out of the adoption donations, whatever Heidi can fundraise doing her auctions, and my own pocketbook. Any Donations are appreciated.

ORANGE JEFF is ready to go!
This is one of the little boys that was at the end of my photo session and I was getting too hot and light headed to take the time to sweet talk him out of the crate. So I dind't get many pix. Right now he has stayed huddled at the back of his crate. I am not going to tramatize him any further than he already has been by taking him to the vet today. I will wait until next week sometime as he needs time to get comfortable with humans.

UPDATE: 8/28/2010 - Jeff is still very scared and runs away while he barks at me when I come into the room. I have been able to touch him when I sit down holding a treat or when I am petting the other dogs he wants some love too. Gareth has picked him up and put him in a crate and out of a crate. So... he will need work for a while, but... he is so much better than he was. He still stays out of reach most of the time, but... he is getting better. He wants to be friends, he is just scared.
Jeff was heartworm negative and has been completely vetted so he is ready to go to a new home. We ARE taking apps on him at this time and hope that someone who can give him a lot of TLC and understanding will want to adopt him. He is a good dog that just needs the right person to show him that the world isn't as scary as what he thinks.

ORANGE KISS IS ADOPTED!
This is the little one that they said had been born without an eye. BUT... it looks to me like her eye had ruptured. She does not seem to be in any pain at this time. Kiss also has nasty crusty area around her other eye. I don't know if it is just healing sores or what. She has more crusty skin issues than the others as you can see by the pix showing her thin hair and the redness around her ears and neck. She is a sweet girl. I think she is older than the 1-3 they told us all these dogs were, but Dr. Cindy will be the judge of that. She seems to be a sweet little girl and I named her Orange Kiss because she was ready to give me kisses and didn't seem as afraid as the other dogs. Since she will be going in for surgery next week and she isn't in pain, we decided not to traumatize her with the needles today. So she will get her spay, eye taken care of, shots and tests next week on surgery day.

UPDATE: 8/28/2010 - Kiss was heartworm negative and has had her surgery. Orange Kiss is healing fine. Her eye is looking good. She thinks the recliner is her personal castle and will stand up on the arm and bark when things seem to be happening and the other dogs are barking and such. She is a friendly girl and now ready to adopt. FOHA has already found an adopter for her and she is on her way to her new home. Thank you FOHA!
Here are a couple of pix of Orange Kiss after her eye has been fixed and she just had her bath to go to her new home. She is sporting her brand new colorful collar that was donated to the Arkansas babies by: Steph with PB&J's World! Thank you so much! Doesn't she look spiffy? Kiss says she is ready to know how a Boston is supposed to be loved and be spoilt for the rest of her life by her new momma Elke Paetzold in the northeast. Thank you Elke for adopting a sweet rescue Boston who really needed someone to love and understand her.

ORANGE OSCAR
This is the big head red boy. Pretty face except he has a lot of scars on there and seems to be friendly. You can't tell but he has very thin hair and missing patches on his face and torso. I think it is flea allergies as they were all covered in fleas. We Capstared them. No problems with him other than he was too interested in what was going on around him rather than look at me.
UPDATE: 8/28/2010 - Oscar is heartworm negative. We will get him neutered in the next week or so and he will be ready to go to a new home. He does not care for my Boxer Teddy so no big dogs for him. This boy is a lover and wants to get and give a lot of love. He is very outgoing compared to the other dogs and should integrate in with a family fairly easily. He is a gorgeous dog. Please think about adopting him into your family.

ORANGE RUMBLER IS ADOPTED!
This is the white headed boy with a haggarty spot. He is scared, but really wants to cuddle up with Gareth who is holding the blanket. This is a pretty boy, that is a bit on the thin side, but not emaciated. He has hair loss around his behind. Notes from shelter and other place says he is food aggressive but very sweet with people. I think he is a pretty boy, but should never have been used as a breeder because he doesn't meet the breed standard.

UPDATE: 8/28/2010 - Today I went to the applicants house way out in Lucas, Texas. These are some nice folks who really miss their little fellow Fibber who recently died of stomach cancer. Dorothy and Gerald fell in love with our Orange Rumbler! So another one of our sweet little Arkansas seizure dogs has a new home. I think the fact that he was so scared and yet Rumbler still wanted to give love to Gerald is what did it. Rumbler was growing much more confident as I left the house. I think that boy has it made in the shade now. They are even gonna keep his name because it is unusual.

ORANGE SAFARI is ready for Adoption!
This is the one that was labeled aggressive. As you can see I was being careful. Cathy with BTRET loaned me the crate he was in so that we didn't get injured transferring him from her van to mine. REMIND me to MAIL her crate back to her. He was my last photo session last night, I was hot but I wasn't stupid. I did NOT try to reach in and grab him as that is just asking to get bitten by a frightened dog. We brought his crate in. I opened the door this morning and he is out of the crate in the kitchen, but does run and hide when Gareth or I go in there. This is one that won't be going to the vet today either. I feel it is more important to gain his trust than to traumatize him farther. I do have the snap leash thing to grab him with if he does get aggressive to us and get him in the crate. As you can see by the pix in the crate he has some major skin issues. Very thin hair from the fleas and maybe allergies, we will see what Dr. Cindy says. He is a pretty dog with some major radar ears. As far as the aggression/fear biting, I think given time, love and building his trust maybe he will come around. But remember it is not a favor to him for him to be terrified of his whole world and biting people, so if after a while, I determine that he is actually aggressive, then I will have to make a hard decision. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt right now and hoping and praying that getting him out of that situation will turn him around.
UPDATE: 8/28/2010 - Ok, this boy has a future. He is not as hopeless as I was lead to believe. YEAH!!! Safari is a food hound and I have been able to pet him quite a few times. He will come up in reach and let me pet a couple of times before he decides that is enough and moves away. I think he will be a sweetheart when he finally decides that people are not all bad. He has actually started rearing up on us to get pets. This boy has come a very long way from the frightened baby on the day we got him. This sweetheart will take some time to warm up to you, but once he is comfortable with you, he is so loving and sweet, just still a bit scared. This baby needs someone who will give him a stable, loving and understanding home so he can bloom into the great dog he was supposed to be. Safari's skin is looking better and I think in another month or so you won't be able to tell that he had so much hair loss. He will be a nice looking dog. Safari was heartworm negative and has been fully vetted, so he is looking for that special someone to love him and give him a safe place to call his own.

ORANGE SURPRISE
This is the little Beigey Tannish girl. Her color really came out against the red, but she looks much paler than that not in bright sunshine with a red backdrop. She is fairly friendly. As you can see by her sagging boobs that lady was breeding the hell out of them. This is a dog that should not be bred cause she is not a Boston color but them damn breeders are breeding for. Arrgghh. She probably has health issues. Her hair is very thin and patches missing on her rear. Flea allergies probably. Surprise has some unusual colored eyes too. Kinda a grey/greeny color and she has a pink nose. She seems like a sweet girl. I had more luck with her sitting and looking at me and got some better pix. Orange Surprise 22.5 was heartworm negative and needs spay. She was the most laid back of them. She is a sweet thang. I am gonna want to place this one myself to make sure that whoever adopts her wants her bacause she is Surprise and not because she is an usual color. That is not a reason to want to adopt a dog. AnywayI will know about her skin and fecal tests next week.

UPDATE: 8/28/2010 - THis little girl went into heat so was unable to be spayed last week. I am planning on spaying her the week of September 6th. She was heartworm negative and will be ready to go when she is spayed. We ARE taking apps on her now! She is a very sweet girl who loves attention. Anyone would be lucky to have her. She is NOT a small girl by any means. But she is a loving girl who is eager to please and with the right person will make a great dog.

ORANGE TIC TAC
This little guy is scared spitless, but wants to be good. He GRINS. That got him labled aggressive at the shelter. He rolls over and gave me belly in the crate when I went to get him out. Not a bit of aggression shown to me. Do you notice the very submissive postures in the photos? He too has skin issues, probably from the fleas. Orange Tic Tac 18.8 did really well. He grinned at me. Shook a little bit but calmed down he kept licking me and then hunkering down. He was heartworm negative as well and needs a neuter. He is up to date on shots. I will know more about his fecal and skin tests next week.
UPDATE: 8/28/2010 - TicTac is my smiler. he is a sweetheart. He is gonna be a little bit more of a challenge as he is a bit food protective and is not as fond of other dogs as the rest of them. But we will find him somoene who will give him time, love and training so that he becomes more confident and learns what a Boston should be. I am planning on getting him into the vet next week to get him neutered. HE was heartworm negative and will be available for adoption then. This is a very sweet boy. He deserves a good home.

ORANGE TRUFFLE MOCHA
This one is an unusual reddish brown brindly color. Not a red persay and not a brown either, just an usual in between color. Against the red background you can't see the color that good. I should have used blue. As you can see she too has been bred to death. Her behind is naked and has a lot of hair loss. The shelter labled her aggressive and the vet labled her very sweet and hasn't seen any dog aggression in her. I got her in the kitchen with several of the laid back dogs and she is doing fine. She wants to be friends, but she is a bit scared. Orange Truffle Mocha 17.7 lbs is heartworm negative and needs to be spayed. She was scared too. But did pretty good. She was more Please save me and shaking. Is now up to date with shots. I will know more about her fecals and skin tests next week.

ORANGE VELVET
This is the smallest and I think youngest of the girls. She has been bred. I think this is the one of the ones that the vet thought is preggers. She is scared as you can see in the pix. She wants to be friendly but is scared. She has fur missing in bits and pieces around her rear end. She was not real cooperative on taking pix as far as looking at me. I have her loose in the kitchen and she is starting to want to come up to us for attention, but stays just out of arms reach. Orange Velvet 15.3 lbs is heartworm negative and needs to be spayed. She was scared and peed all over the scale the floor and the waiting room. Poor baby. Dr. Cindy doesn't think she is pregnant, thank goodness. I am really tired of puppies. She is up to date on her shots and I will know more on her fecal and skin tests next week.
