Wanda was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Her father was in the Navy until she was 10. So her first 10 years were spent traveling to exotic places like Maryland, Washington, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico where her little sister Janice was born. Due to the traveling and having to make new friends on a regular basis, Wanda is very outgoing and never meets a stranger. She has always loved animals and had a Boston Terrier when she was a child which is why she is in love with the breed. Scamper was her best friend for many years.

Wanda has a vast experience dealing with people and problems from working with South Central Bell and AT&T for many years. She started working on her BS in Nursing and got all the school work done and the first year of clinical before deciding that wasn't the career for her. For now she is a rescuer. But... she still hasn't decided what she wants to be when she grows up.

All the Bostons that pass through our doors are Bruce's Babies as he loved all other animals except skunks. Wanda got into rescue because of her Boxer Bruce (1994-2008) as she joined a boxer chat group to talk about what a wonderful dog he was and learned about rescue. When she was ready to get another dog, she decided to adopt a dog, then volunteered with the group she adopted from and the rest is history. She started volunteering with OBTRS in 1999 which led eventually into her forming ABTR with Heidi and Micah in 2003. She has always had a pet or 3 for the past 30 years or so and has experience from her agricultural family's background with various farm animals as well as dogs and cats. Wanda is married to Gareth who supports, encourages and helps her with her rescue work.

Wanda doesn't do knickknacks, perfumery things (allergies) and other girly things. But she does enjoy Science Fiction and comedy movies, reading her sci fi and paranormal (werewolf and vampire) romances, and being with her pets when she has time. Wanda's favorite present is a gift card to the Bookstore or a nice restaurant. She likes to think she is over the "gotta have stuff and get ahead" phase of her life and more into the "enjoy the moment" phase. And the moments she enjoys most is cuddling up with her personal dogs on the bed or in the chair to watch TV when she can catch some spare time or when she sends a dog that was unloved and neglected to a new home that will love and spoil him for the rest of their lives.
